BAsPC: The First Books

BA's Posting Challenge 2013-14Welcome to BA’s Posting Challenge for book bloggers! In an effort to consistently create content on BA I thought I would take part in a 30 day blogging challenge (I have to mix it up or else I get bored), but realised I don’t want to, nor do I have the time, to create a post every single day. Instead I decided to attempt to create a post once a week with content other than a review.

This is how BA’s Posting Challenge began.

Now BA’s Posting Challenge has become an annual event spanning the year’s busiest time. November for Wrimos everywhere, December for the holiday season, January for New Year’s and recovery, February for the lovers, and March to finally wind down after all the craziness.

BA’s Posting Challenge is for those book bloggers who want content and can’t think of anything to post, want a break without their blog dying, and just want to join in somewhere with the blogosphere community. This  challenge has a focus on books, book blogs, and personal topics scattered throughout. Find all the topics here. Continue reading

2010 Reading Journal

This is what I have read for the year (posting it so I can archive it in preparation for next year!). It’s nowhere near as much as the previous years, but I read quite a few good books so I feel there’s far more quality there compared to quantity and maybe that’s more important.

I’ve rated them for everyone’s benefit from 1-5 hearts and I’ve linked the books to reviews if I’ve reviewed them.

  1. – Painfully Boring
  2. ♥♥ – Boring
  3. ♥♥♥ – Average or Undecided

2008 Reading Journal

2008 was when I started keeping a list of what I was reading and the following is the whole list from 2008.  I wanted to post it to share a record of my reading habits of the last 2 years and to also link it up to my Reading Journal page. I’ll also link each title to any reviews I have posted or will post in future (Old School Thursdays reviews).

Just An Update

I have updated my planned reading list for this year (right here).

I’ve added all the authors and their works I plan on reading for The Aussie Author Challenge.

  1. White Tiger – Kylie Chan
  2. Finnikin of The Rock – Melina Marchetta
  3. Blacktown – Shane Weaver

I was going to read some more classic Australian lit, but I have these on hand so I know I will be able to get them.

I’ve also taken out The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield and The Heroes of Asgard by A & E Keary, replacing them with The Greatest Show on Earth by Richard Dawkins and Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson.

I was fighting a losing battle with The Heroes of Asgard because each time I’ve tried to read it it’s started to put me to sleep. I have more chance falling deeply asleep then finishing that book so I figured I might as well try another one if it means I can finish reading it.

As for The Celestine Prophecy, I’m an atheist and it quoted something from the bible. Not that I have a problem with people quoting the bible if they want to, but I’m not interested in reading it. I don’t see why I should force myself to if it’s got something that has completely turned me off. Shame really because I’ve had that book for a couple of years now and have been wanting to read it, but if that’s a preview of what’s between the pages then it’s not my cup of tea.

That’s about it really. I haven’t been reading that much lately, instead I have been writing and partaking in other forms of entertainment, but I’m getting back into it again and trying to make my way further into The Ranger’s Apprentice by John Flanagan. I just can’t go without reading for that long.

My Read Books For 2009

It’s yet again the end of another year and like every year I’ve come to the end of my reading list.

I started keeping track of what books I would read through out the year, first as a challenge, and then just for the fun of it. These are the books I’ve read during the year.

If you’ve followed me from my other blog – Meanderings – this will probably be very familiar to you. That’s because I’m posting it here as well and if not it’s probably because I haven’t posted it yet.

A couple of years ago I began keeping track of what I read during the year (I read a lot). At first it was part of a 50 Book Challenge, but after I read twice that many books I just started keeping a list instead of challenging myself to read a certain amount or a certain type of book.

I’ve rated them for everyone’s benefit from 1-5 hearts and I’ve linked the books to their websites or the author’s websites, but only of the first one if it’s a series.

1 – Awful and I would like my time back

2 ♥♥ – On the crap side, but can still stomach it or absolute trash, but entertaining because it’s so trashy.
