Must Reads: Best Fiction From 2010

Here is a list of the books mostly recommended for the year 2010 as collated from scouring the internet, rather than from book seller lists and whatnot. These are the books that bloggers, forum posters, and everyone else sharing online have mentioned. Most of these are by American authors so next year on the first Monday I plan on doing a Must Reads for Australian books from 2010.

A Visit From The Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan

A Visit from the Goon Squad is a book about the interplay of time and music, about survival, about the stirrings and transformations set inexorably in motion by even the most passing conjunction of our fates.

In a breathtaking array of styles and tones ranging from tragedy to satire to PowerPoint, Egan captures the undertow of self-destruction that we all must either master or succumb to; the basic human hunger for redemption; and the universal tendency to reach for both—and escape the merciless progress of time—in the transporting realms of art and music. Feature, Giveaway, and Must Reads

I have some news…

Who’s Been Featured?

The lovely Hannah over at Every Little Thing has featured me on her blog. This involves an interview post where I answer a bunch of questions and then another post where I can review a book. I have already posted the review on this blog (HorrorCon by Scott Norton), but if you’d like to read the interview post you can check that out here.

You can also put your name down to be featured sometime in the future if you so wish. All you have to do is submit your details and wait for it!

If this is something you want to come back to later there will always be a badge at the bottom of this blog (with all the other nifty badges) leading straight to Hannah’s blog.

Bookish Giveaway Anyone?

In other news, thanks to Hannah’s questions, I have realised that this blog has been going for almost a year. I thought why not have a giveaway to celebrate Bookish Ardour’s birthday?

Sounds like a good idea doesn’t it? Yeah I thought so. The official birthday is 29th of December so what I’m going to do is a single post within the next week that will not only be the official post for entries, but also have more details so please keep an eye out for it and if you know of anyone who might be interested in a bookish type of giveaway please let them know as well so they have a chance to win.

Must Reads

If anyone has been keeping tabs on me they would have noticed I have not been keeping up with Must Reads. I missed the one before last and the last one as well which I promised to do on books based on reading so what I’m going to do is try to do an end of year one that involves books recommended from 2010, and then each Monday I will try to be doing a Must Reads for the month of January before it all hopefully goes back to normal again with it only once a month.

Are there any suggestions?
