Book Blogger Confessions: Giveaways and Entries

Book Blogger Confessions is a meme that posts the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month, where book bloggers “confess” and vent about topics that are unique to us. Feel free to share, vent and offer solutions.

Hosted by For What It’s Worth and Midnyte Reader. Check out the Book Blogger Confessions Schedule to see what topics are coming up.

Today’s Topic: Giveaways. As a blogger, how do you feel about extra entries, required entries etc? Do you have a system to choose/announce winners and keep prizes organized? What method works best for you when hosting a giveaway? (Rafflecopter/Google Doc’s or other)

Have you ever had problems hosting a giveaway sponsored by an author or publisher who is supposed to send the prize to the winner and doesn’t? How have you handled these issues?
As a prize winner – what do you do if your prize never arrives? Do you contact the blogger or just let it go?

BA News: What’s Happening on BA

In This Post;

  • Hello
  • Personal Health News
  • Challenges and Your Reviews
  • 2012 Wrap-Ups and Your Challenge Reviews
  • Presents for You
  • Conclusion

Hello my fellow book lovers! Long time no… see? My last, non-scheduled, post was in December. December! Can you believe it? Now it’s February and I figure it’s about time I began posting again. I have several posts and other things coming up for you all, but first I’ll start with an update on what happened in December.

P.S. I have decided to incorporate the above because I know every reader is different, have different amounts of free time, and thought it might make it easier to find what is relevant to you and what you want to know in each news post. Continue reading

BA News: Updates, Content, and Giveaways.

As part of BA’s last news update – I have some spare energy at the moment, so I thought I’d stop by, and update everyone on the goings on with BA.

First I’d like to apologise for any inconvenience brought about by my being away, and to thank all of those who have been visiting and commenting. We’re probably going to be quieter with content for awhile, this isn’t the best time of year for my health, but it will be getting cooler here and that usually means more energy to organise and post more content.

So we will be on the quiet side for a little longer, but between Adam, Sarah, and myself there will still be something to read. One good thing about all this convalescence time is being able to read for most of it, so I have reviews on the way. They’ll be moving to Thursdays for the time being (instead of Wednesdays) and might start going up this week. So we’ll have Adam’s reviews, my reviews, and Saturday’s book trailers.

We also have some guests posts coming up, and if you’d like to submit a guest post I’d love to hear from you and I’m sure our readers would get a kick out of what content you submit. Head on over to our application form if you’re interested and if you have any questions please feel free to ask them.

As for giveaways we had on, all the winners have been contacted via email, and our monthly giveaways are now on hold along with organising other events.

With regards to challenges and comment questions, you’re all doing great with challenges and for those who still need the image sent to them it will be forthcoming (you haven’t been forgotten). I may miss a few comments for a short period and there will possibly be longer intervals between updating the Mr Linky links, but that will not interfere with your challenges and links.

That’s about it. Thanks for stopping by and have fun reading!

BA News: Hiatus, Content and Giveaway Winners.

Hey friends.

I am stopping by briefly to let you know that for the time being Bonnie (administrator/editor) will be taking a hiatus due to some health problems. Do not fret, it is nothing serious, it is just that things have been quite hectic lately and as a result Bonnie has not had the time to get the rest needed to recover properly.

Adam and Ashley will be resuming their reviews here on BA and I will be returning, as the new school year starts, with Sunday Sessions.

Bonnie will be back before you know it, but for now, she must take a break.

The winners of the recent Indie Summer Giveaway competitions will be receiving an email from myself to congratulate them and organise their prizes. However the giveaways are still underway so please continue to enter and win yourself a fantastic read for 2012.

Thank you for your ongoing support and we look forward to sharing a year of reading with you in 2012.

Halloween Hootenanny with Midnyte Reader

Growing up in Australia, Halloween wasn’t a big deal, and even more so for me because going door to door for lollies isn’t exactly a good thing for a diabetic. Still, I love the idea of a holiday such as Halloween, not referring to the Pagan holiday that it originates from (love that too), but the whole horror aspect of it. Not that I really need one (I already have fake skeletons and skulls around the house all year round), but I like to have an excuse to post about, read, celebrate, watch, and play something connected to horror or a manner of dark fiction, especially if it is the spooky Gothic kind.

This year Midnyte Reader is having an event of her own and BA is joining in with a Halloween giveaway! If you’ve got your own blog and wish to participate, including if you have something already planned, you can do so. You can also participate with a guest post on MR itself. Here’s more of the details from Midnyte Reader; Continue reading

Spring Fling 2011 Book Giveaway

This is a new feature we’re having here at BA, each month we will be having a giveaway starting with September. I’ll try to make them all themed (hence the title Spring Fling as it is spring here in the southern hemisphere) for added fun and that brings us to this Spring Fling giveaway!

What will the winner receive? One of the below new release titles – all of which are YA paranormal romance. In the event that one of the books is a sequel or later in a series, you’re welcome to choose that one shown or the first in the series. Continue reading
