Decisions for BA’s Posting Challenge

BA’s Posting Challenge is almost at its end and I brought this up last week, but hadn’t quite made a decision with how to carry on. Well, I’ve finally decided! I think…

One of the options I was thinking of was making BA’s posting challenge an annual event running over the course of five months and the busiest period of the year, NaNoWrimo, Christmas, New Year’s, and this includes Valentines for all you lovers and Mardi Gras! This is the option I’m going with. Those months can become hectic and make blogging a trial to keep up with. I don’t know about everyone else, but I like the idea of having one topic ready to go every week. It takes the pressure off and lowers my stress levels. No one needs any more stress during NaNo, oh yeah and Christmas, but mostly NaNo. Continue reading

BA’s Posting Challenge is Almost Over

That’s right! BA’s posting challenge is coming to an end! I don’t know about you guys, but the time felt like it went by fairly quickly. If you’ve taken part, I would love feedback. You can comment in this post, or feel free to send me an email via the below feedback form.

This is what I would like to know in particular;

  • Did you enjoy the challenge and if so what did you enjoy about it?
  • What didn’t you enjoy about the challenge?
  • Did you feel there was something missing?
  • Would you take part in another, or similar, challenge? (why or why not)
  • Would you prefer the challenge be a continuous meme, or do you think it motivates you more by being a time-sensitive challenge?

Of course, those are just the more pertinent queries I have, but you’re welcome to tell me any thoughts coming to you in regards to the challenge. I would appreciate any and all feedback. Continue reading

BA News: Calling All Lovers of Indie Authors!

BA's Go Indie Reading 2013 Reading Challenge. Grab me!Hello readers… So the other day I was updating my links for the various reading challenges I host when, lo and behold, I noticed the lack of links in one of the widgets. It’s only me sharing reviews for the Go Indie challenge! If there was a competition between the challenges, Go Indie wouldn’t just be losing. It would be dying. Dying a slow and agonising death as its fellow challenges are a world away from it.

Poor Go Indie challenge… Dying slowly, alone, unloved, and probably bleeding from every orifice*…

My issue with personifying everything aside, I wanted to bring the Go Indie challenge to every reader’s attention! First off, if you’re already signed up, share your reviews! Share your books with other readers! Just share! Sharing is caring as the Carebears say. There’s no need to remind me how old I am.

Ahem. Continue reading

BA News: Too Stuffed for Posting

Just a short post today. If you’ve been following my BA posting challenge, you would have known I missed yesterday. Well, I’m not going to be posting it or anything else for the next few days by the looks of things. I had a lovely bug over the weekend that cleaned me out and left me feeling pretty spaced. I swear, if I wasn’t sick, I would have thought someone had drugged me.

As of today I’m feeling better though. I’ve stopped throwing up and have been able to eat almost normal meals. Huzzah! Except being without food for 36 hours does a number on you so now I’m getting over that too. Woo. Hence no posting… Too delirious to post. That’s me!

If you’re waiting for my challenge post to go up, don’t worry, you don’t have to. Follow the badge on the side there and you can link up to that page if you’d prefer. Otherwise, I’ll have my post up before the weekend, just might be like right on the beginning of the weekend…

Introducing BA’s 26 Posts Challenge for Book Bloggers

26 Posts Book Blogging Challenge Introduction

BA's 26 Posts Challenge for Book BloggersWelcome to my 26 Posts Challenge idea for book bloggers! In an effort to consistantly create content on BA I thought I would take part in a 30 day blogging challenge (I have to mix it up or else I get bored), but realised I don’t want to, nor do I have the time, to create a post every single day. Instead I decided to attempt to create a post once a week with content other than a review.

At first I thought why not do that for 30 weeks and then realised that was close to six months, so why not 26 weeks instead? Then I thought what if other bloggers want to have a challenge to keep up with blogging, but also don’t want to blog every single day? This is why I have come up with the 26 Posts Book Blog Challenge and am sharing it with everyone. This challenge has a focus on books, book blogs, and personal topics scattered througout.

How it Will Work

If anyone else would like to join in than here’s how I’ll be going about it;

  • Topics: Prepared and shared beforehand (all at the end of this post). You don’t have to wait for me to post to prepare!
  • My Posts: My posts for the topic will go up every Sunday.
  • Your Posts: You can go ahead and post your topic answers any time during the week after my post or wait, with bated breath, to share on the same day as me.
  • Sharing: If you want to share a link to your post feel free to link up in the comments.
  • An Important Side Note: Please refrain from targeting individuals, bullying, or slandering in your posts. Share your opinions, but keep it diplomatic if anything negative comes up so this can be, and stay, a fun challenge.

Easy! I think I’ve covered everything… My first post will be going up on the 14th of April, so if you want to join in, you can start preparing! Continue reading

Beatrice and Virgil Giveaway for Australian Readers

For the second time in one week, lucky ducks, I have a giveaway for Australian readers (don’t worry international readers, I have a freebie coming up for you as well). Would you like a chance to win a copy of Yann Martel’s Beatrice and Virgil? I’m going to assume that was a yes. I bought a copy a few months back and then realised I already had one. What do I need with a spare copy? Seriously? One lucky reader will get an unread paperback copy of Beatrice and Virgil by Yann Martel, which I reviewed last year.

Beatrice and Viril

Fate takes many forms. . . .Beatrice and Virgil by Yann Martel

When Henry receives a letter from an elderly taxidermist, it poses a puzzle that he cannot resist. As he is pulled further into the world of this strange and calculating man, Henry becomes increasingly involved with the lives of a donkey and a howler monkey—named Beatrice and Virgil—and the epic journey they undertake together.

With all the spirit and originality that made Life of Pi so beloved, this brilliant new novel takes the reader on a haunting odyssey. On the way Martel asks profound questions about life and art, truth and deception, responsibility and complicity.

Interested? All you have to do is fill in the below form before Tuesday the 19th, 12pm AEDST. I won’t be announcing the winner here on BA so it can be a surprise. Don’t worry about sharing your details with me, I only need them to make sure the winner gets the prize and after that I’ll delete all your details. No one else will see them. Continue reading
