BA’s 26 Posts Blogging Challenge
Welcome to BA’s 26 Posts Posting Challenge for Book Bloggers! The aim of this challenge is to create one post a week, focusing on books, book blogs, and a scattering of personal topics, for 26 weeks. You can learn more, or be kept up to date with topics here.
Posts will go up every Sunday, but you can post any time during the week (all topics are pre-listed), and share your posts in the comments for others to find. Please refrain from targeting individuals, bullying, or slandering in your posts. Share your opinions, but keep it diplomatic if anything negative comes up so this can be, and stay, a fun challenge.
This Week’s Topic
Keeping Place: When it comes to keeping place in the book you’re reading, what’s your favourite method and has it changed over the years?
_____
Oh it’s changed alright. Most of my reading is digital now so it’s definitely changed. On the odd occasion I do read a print however, I always use a bookmark. I’m more fastidious about using bookmarks these days, but there are those times when I slip up or if I’m deep into reading and have to stop suddenly, say when cooking, and end up grabbing a piece of paper to temporary keep place.
I’ve noticed lately I’m using a random paper bookmark less and less though, and instead I’ve started just leaving it open. I only feel comfortable doing that because I know I’m going to be coming back to the book as soon as I possibly can. I wouldn’t do such a thing otherwise, not with my need to keep books in good condition.
I have a ridiculous amount of bookmarks now. I used to try to choose one that feels like it fits something about the book, but it didn’t always work out and I eventually got over the novelty over it. Now I have three I prefer, a Japanese black and red print one with a black tassel that’s perfect for small paperbacks, two bookmarks of the same size with a robot and a dragon print, which are both perfect for medium to large size bookmarks. That’s pretty much it. I like bookmarks for size now, rather than design.
I must be getting old…
