This week’s BA Challenge Post is here! Late, but here! Sorry guys. We adopted a new bun on Saturday and boy is he an adventurous one. He is both an escape artist and a climber, as well as being a-once-abandoned animal, and a rabbit. So if you combine all those things… Well lets just say taking advantage of a spare moment equals going to the bathroom. Yep! I have plenty of other news too so will, hopefully, be attempting to update tomorrow. Right now though, challenge post time!
BA’s 26 Posts Blogging Challenge
Welcome to BA’s 26 Posts Posting Challenge for Book Bloggers! The aim of this challenge is to create one post a week, focusing on books, book blogs, and a scattering of personal topics, for 26 weeks. You can learn more, or be kept up to date with topics here.
Posts will go up every Sunday, but you can post any time during the week (all topics are pre-listed), and share your posts in the comments for others to find. Please refrain from targeting individuals, bullying, or slandering in your posts. Share your opinions, but keep it diplomatic if anything negative comes up so this can be, and stay, a fun challenge.
This Week’s Topic
In the Design: How did you come to have your current blog design and what do you love about it?
I get bored and need a change every now and again, as I’m sure every blogger does. Sometimes it’s more of a design and template conflict. For instance; lately I’ve been checking out different designs because I started to notice how a few of the titles to posts and pages weren’t aligned properly. The g at the end of an ‘ing word would be on the next line, or the d of an ‘ed word would be by its lonesome.
I have tried to ignore it for the time being, but I have a perfection issue, and besides it’s just really, really annoying. Why would it be like that?! ARGH! It drives me crazy!
Ok… anyway… Another example is how I can’t fit as much up the top as I would like. The narrowness of the this design is starting to make me claustrophobic. I want something wider, but I have specifications, which is why I haven’t changed it over in the month I’ve been looking through all the WP designs.
Funnily enough, alignment issues and fitting certain things in certain places is why I switched to this one to begin with. I know. It’s my pedantic quirk.
What I do love about this one is the colour scheme, the simplicity of the banner, the fact that you’re not overwhelmed with the navigation bar. Fonts and spacing aren’t too large or too small, bulky, or clumsy. I like simple, I like clean-cut, but I don’t like boring. To me this design has a simple approach with the main navigation above, everything else in the side panel, and a minimalist banner, but the background and colours give it a bit extra so it is not boring.
This is kind of what I’m looking for in the next design. As much as I love this one, the two mentioned issues I have with it have gotten to me (try as I might to ignore them), and I just need a change. Sometimes changing my blog design or colour scheme is enough to make me feel better when something has cracked up in my life. Now if only I could find the one I want… and soon!
Don’t forget to share your post if you take part, grab the badge, and tell your friends. The more the merrier!
