Book Blogger Confessions: Evolution and Ending

Book Blogger Confessions is a meme that posts the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month, where book bloggers “confess” and vent about topics that are unique to us. Feel free to share, vent and offer solutions.

Hosted by For What It’s Worth and Midnyte Reader. Check out the Book Blogger Confessions Schedule to see what topics are coming up.

Today’s Topic: How long do you see yourself blogging for? Do you think it’s ok for a blog to evolve over time? For example: You may have started out as a book review blog but now your interest is in cooking as well. Do you incorporate that or start over?

Thought: I don’t necessarily see an end to it. Actually I don’t think I’ve ever thought about bringing my blogging to a real end. I’ve taken time off and have considered the possibility of not blogging anymore, but when it comes to hitting that delete button… No. This is not a concept to me. I’m sure it’s more reasonable and logical to realise my blogging career will come to an end one day, but I can’t contemplate it. I’d rather live thinking I’m going to be blogging.

When it comes to a blog evolving, I think it can evolve in different ways. Personally I would create another blog for another subject or keep it to my writing/everything blog. I see blogs as evolving in other ways, such as extending on a subject or adapting, adding to, that sort of thing. This is a great way to evolve and I think every blog needs to eventually in order to avoid becoming stale for both creater and readers.

  1. Such a great point about evolving to keep your blog from growing stale. I really don’t *want* to see my blog come to an end, but I guess it’s something that in the back of my head. I like what you said, “I’d rather live thinking I’m going to be blogging.”
