BTT: Borrowing

Booking Through Thursday is hosted at the BTT blog. Click on the banner to join in this week’s BTT and let us know if you’re participating!

Who would you rather borrow from? Your library? Or a Friend? (Or don’t your friends trust you to return their books?)And, DO you return books you borrow?

I don’t really care either way. I think what the deciding factor is, is convenience. At the moment the only people I’m borrowing from is my mum and my girlfriend so really that isn’t an issue. I see them on a regular basis so I can get those books whenever and then give them back as soon as I’m finished, whereas with my friends I have to wait till I see them or post them. That can be a bit of an inconvenience at times, especially if I have to post them, because I always feel that I have to give back in a certain time frame even if they don’t say anything, and they don’t because they aren’t like that. It’s just something that is ingrained in me.

The library can be convenient because it’s down the road and all I have to do is drop it in the chute to return it when no one is there. Although sometimes I get a little grossed out thinking about where the books could have been especially if I open one and there’s stuff on the pages… ewww…

As for returning? Always, to both the library and friends. I feel horrible if I keep books for a long period of time (when I say long to me that is about a month), imagine how I’d feel if I didn’t return them? The only time I never returned a book to a friend was when they borrowed my Marilyn Manson CD. We did a swap and they refused to give it back so I kept the book. I was pissed off about the CD, but I ended up completing my Anne Rice collection.

What about you? If you take part let me know and I’ll visit you when November is over!

  1. I’m with you. I feel bad if I don’t return things to my friends in a reasonable amount of time. This is why I don’t borrow, lol. I’m terrible at remembering to return things, and if I have to mail them, forget it.
