Book Blogger Hop #1

Update: I’m not able to reply to comments or visit other blogs today because my internet is being dodgy, but it should be back to normal by tomorrow. Thanks for all the comments and visits everyone.

Book Blogger HopI don’t usually post more then once a day, but I have no idea when I will be able to post tomorrow and I really want to take part in this meme.

This is the first Book Blogger Hop, hosted by Crazy For Books, that I’m actually taking part in. I’ve been following it for awhile, but this is the first time I have either had time to participate or haven’t had a post scheduled.

The basic principle is not just to answer a question like a lot of memes out there at the moment, but to be part of a blogging community and hopefully find new blogs to read or new blogging friends to make. It’s basically a book blog party each weekend.

Each weekend there is a new question to answer and this week it’s the following;

How do you spread the word about your blog? (e.g. Social Networking sites, Book Blog Directories, comments on other blogs…)”

I use a combination of a Facebook page, Twitter, and blogging directories. I used to run a lot of forums and websites so I have a lot of advertising know how and tricks up my sleeve, but I just don’t have as much time to spend online like I used to so I don’t spend that much energy doing it anymore.

I’m not really focused on getting my blog out there as I used to be with forums because I’m really just a blogging junkie and am really only blogging for the fun of it. I do comment on other blogs more now and participate in memes just for fun, not to spread the word.

Of course If I get followers and comments that’s a bonus, but I’m not about to push for it. It may all change when I start writing more (or again) to the point where I’m almost finished something and am ready to publish, but I doubt very much I’ll use my blog for that anyway.

And there’s the long answer, no short answers today! Oh wait, is there ever a short answer?

If you want to take part in this weekend’s hop click the banner and let us know if you do so I can be nosy and see what your answer is!

  1. Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog and your nice comment. I like your answer as well. When I first started blogging I didn’t really have any clue about followers and stats…I just wanted to talk about books, and give myself yet one more project.

    • You’re welcome Midnyte, I’m very glad I hopped on over. Sometimes I think if someone is just blogging for the followers and stats they loose their appeal to readers and probably end up stressed from it. Better to focus on content and blogging for enjoyment than anything else.

Thank you very much for visiting.

  2. Hey! Thanks for stopping by my blog, I just wanted to pop in and say I hope you have a great weekend. I didn’t see a GFC follow button, so I just subscribed to the feed instead:) I look forward to reading more of your reviews!

    • Hi Jenny, thanks for stopping by and following.
I’m not sure if I can get GFC with WordPress unless I actually have downloaded the WP software and payed for it (that all just goes right over my head at the moment). It would be very handy though, but I’m glad you went with the feed anyway.

    • A belated thank you for dropping by Alison. I’ve seen a few bloggers mention the YA Blog Directory. It can be surprising just how many people actually check out the directories to begin with (I’m one of them).

  3. Welcome to the HOP! I just love having fun visiting all the different blogs during the weekly activities. I feel that you can’t just sit back and expect people to come to you. You need to go out visiting as well and say hi. I like the opportunity I get 3-4 times a week to revisit blogs and see what’s happening. I think it’s a real great way to get that sense of community and feel like you’re part of something great 🙂 Hope you’re having fun!

Come HOP by my blog and visit

    • Thanks for visiting my blog. It is fun isn’t it? I agree so much that you really need to go out there yourself rather than expecting everyone to come to you. If you can’t make the effort why should someone else?

I am having fun, thank you!

    • Thanks Susan and for stopping by.
I am enjoying the hop and it’s true, you do find a lot of blogs. I know I have and I haven’t even been apart of it for one whole day.

    • You’re very welcome. I think quite a few people may have gotten stumped by that one when they first started, I know I did!

Thanks for stopping by and subscribing. I really appreciate it.

  4. For the longest time, I was happy to post once a week!
The Hop is a great place to find new blogs. I have run across lots of wonderful spots during my Hop-ping.

My post today is to encourage those who love children and YA lit to nominate their favorite books for a Cybils Award. The link is on my blog.

    I’m a new follower!

    • I used to only blog once a week too, but it gets a little addictive doesn’t it?

Thanks for stopping by and following Debnance. I’m going to go check out your post, I know I read enough YA lit.
