Snippets

I had the page for quotes from books I was reading, but got rid of it because I didn’t always come across a good line or paragraph in the book I was reading.

I still come across lines in a book that I find entertaining, inspiring, harrowing, beautiful, intelligent, witty, or just plain amusing so I’m going to start sharing them. Just posting either a selection of snippets from books or one every now and then. I won’t put it under a category though, just tag it as Snippets.

‘These moans express the sufferer’s enjoyment; if he didn’t enjoy it, he would never have begun to moan.’ – Notes From Underground by Fyodor Dostoevsky. I found it amusing because he is talking about people with toothaches and how moaning means they enjoy the pain.

‘I even believe that the best definition of man is this: a creature who walks on two legs and is ungrateful.’– Notes From Underground. Something I very much agree with.

‘You have to trust someone before you can have rituals with them’. – The Moth Diaries by Rachel Klein

‘Sunday is a lost day. I don’t know if it’s the beginning or the end of the week…. Sunday always pulled me down….. I never know what to do on Sunday.’ – The Moth Diaries by Rachel Klein

‘I had not thought death had undone so many.’ – The Moth Diaries by Rachel Klein

‘Souls are just counters for the churches to collect, all the same value, like nails.’ – The Chrysalids by John Wyndham

“Every solution to every problem is simple. It’s the distance between the two wherein the mystery lies.” – Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy
