I have been seeing this challenge around on some other blogs and decided I need to do it! Even though I am now a member of two book clubs, am hosting my own reading challenge at the end of this month, and have a stack of other books to read on top of it, I need to do it!
R.I.P. stands for Readers Imbibing Peril and you can read what you feel is a scary book from the following genres;
- Dark Fantasy
It’s basically dark fiction all around and I come across a lot of challenges online, but this one really excites me. Can you see why?! I may be a little delirious too, but then again maybe it’s just the sickness talking (I’m currently blowing my nose and coughing my guts up for everyone’s information. Fun times!)
There’s several levels and one challenge involves a movie. Now because I’ve got so many other reading things on and even though I’m reading something that can be considered dark fiction at the moment, I’m going to be aiming for Peril The Third which is to read one book falling under that category. There’s also Peril On The Screen which I’ll be doing too.
I have a copy of The Complete Works and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe which is looking at me so I think I’ll read that, but I also think this might be an opportunity to finally get around to reading Lovecraft. I think I’m going to have to take a week out to read all these things because it might end up being two books, the short stories, and the movie. I just wish sWitch by Scott Norton was out already!
Ok I’ll quieten down now. Long enough introduction to it isn’t it? If you’re interested check it out! It runs from the beginning of September through to the end of October so you still have some time. Yay!
Edit: I’m going to be attempting to do Peril The First which is read four novels instead of Peril The Third.
- Gone by Michael Grant
- Chasers by James Phelan
- Storm Front by Jim Butcher
- Vlad The Impaler: The Man Who Was Dracula by Jacobson and Colon
