Writing Competitions and Exercises

I can’t remember if I have mentioned it before, but I have a forum for writer’s and lovers of books (not just the act of reading itself, but also the covers, adaptations, fan art, children’s books, non fiction, reference and text books, manga and comic books, and authors).

I’m also an aspiring writer and am always looking for ways to motivate myself and to fine tune my writing skills.

I thought I would combine the two.

Once a month there will be a new writing exercise for The Book Fiend Members. It will also be a competition of sorts with a vote at the end of the month for the favourite submission (there is no best out of the lot as every writer has their own style and their own learning curve. I’m more focused on helping writer’s express themselves, focus, and to learn, rather then focusing on who is the best. Therefore we will focus on what the readers enjoy).

If the writer wishes, their piece will be posted on my blog (The Book Fiends doesn’t have one).

And here is the whole point for this post, apart from letting everyone know that there is a writing competition on my forum, once a month I may also be posting someone’s work and then linking back to them so you can congratulate them or give them kudos.

Of course if you wish to participate in the writing exercise you’re more then welcome to. All you have to do is sign up with The Book Fiends, wait for the announcement for that month’s new project, and then follow the how to’s. More information is on the forum in our Notice Board (at the top of the page).
