  1. I’ve just signed up for the 2013 challenge, and posted about it. I’m really happy to join this challenge. Thanks for hosting it. I forgot to put my level – Asocial, 5 dystopian novels this year.

  2. Are you going to be hosting all of your reading challenges for 2013 as well? If so, when do you think the sign up linky will be put up? Just curious…I know there’s still lots of time, I’m just anxious for next year! Lol. :)

    • I sure will be Sam. I’m not sure when the linky will be up. I’m still trying to figure out how I will be going about putting the new links up and where to put the current widgets. I should probably get cracking though, we don’t have much longer!

I’m the same as you when it comes to next year’s challenges. I start getting anxious for them in October. Don’t worry, I’ll make an annoucement when the new ones open up ;)

  3. Okay so apparently I grossly under rated myself LOL finished 15 for this Challenge on August 6!
    1.Crossed by Ally Condie
    2.Cinder by Marissa Meyer
    3.The Chrysalids by John Wyndham
4.The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
5.The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
    6.Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
    7.Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
    8.Delirium by Lauren Oliver
9.The Girl in the Arena by Lise Haines
    10.Wither by Lauren DeStefano
    11.Fever by Lauren DeStefano
    12.Nineteen-Eighty-Four by George Orwell
    13.Animal Farm by George Orwell
    14.Divergent by Veronica Roth
15.Blood Red Road by Moira Young

I would have to say my favourite of the year, possibly of all this genre I’ve read so far, was Divergent by Veronica Roth! And my least favourite was a tie between The Girl in the Arena & Blood Red Road, although the story in Blood was far superior the purposeful spelling and grammatical errors were highly distracting and made it very difficult to get though.

  4. Question! I have discovered this contest a bit late into the year, but I have already read a bunch of Dystopian novels, can I include any of the books I’ve read since the beginning of the year? Or do I have to start the count from when I “officially” joined the challenge? Thanks.

  5. What a cool challenge! I’ve always liked dystopian novels, and this is a great way to raise my awareness of great books that I’ve never heard of. Thanks for hosting it!

  6. Hi again lol … so apparently I have a problem lol aiming for “Contagion” (15) and created a wordpress blog thinking it’ll be easier to keep track of all my challenges that way… I am so confused by the process lol. Hopefully will eventually figure out how to put the challenge links up on my page… we shall see…. another great book challenge :)

    • Hey Nikki, have you done any sign up posts at all? Sorry, I can’t check as I’m doing this from the phone.

If you haven’t already, create a sign up post on your blog (here is an example.
You don’t need to be as elaborate as mine, it can be a small post just to say you’re joining in and any thoughts you want to share on it.
Make sure you include the challenge image in the post and a link back to the challenge page.

The next step depends on if you’re going to review the books your read (reviews are optional).

If you review them – just post your review on your blog as normal and when you’re done copy the URL to that post. Come back to BA and visit the challenge review page where there is a Mr Linky image. Click on the Mr Linky image and paste in your URL with the title you’ve reviewed. It has to be books you’re reviewing for the challenge only.

If you’re not reviewing you can still share what you’re reading on the review page, just share in the comments.

I hope that has helped to answer your question, but if you have any more or need to clear something up just let me know.

  7. Hey I was wondering does the book Hope’s Daughter count as Dystopia? I asked the author and she said it was a mixture of that and sci-fi.
    Emily.

  8. I haven’t done my post yet, but I’m definitely joining the challenge! It seems like a busy reading year, so I’m going to just start out with five and hope I can make it to 15 instead :)

  9. This is my first time, and I’m a bit of a sissy, so I’m only aiming for 5, but I’m really hoping to read to 15 in the end; if you have any suggestions to add to my sign-up page (which is here, please don’t hesitate to let me know about them.

    • There’s nothing wrong with aiming for 5. I’ve aimed for 5 myself. Sometimes it’s the best way, aiming small, and then hopefully going over. Good luck and have fun.

P.S. We have a list of recommended books on BA for dystopia readers, I’ll stop by your blog and share it with you.

    • Hey Fran, sorry I didn’t get back to you before you got it all together, but I’m glad you got it all figured out in the meantime. I’ll fix the links up soon and thank you for letting me know. Have fun!

  10. HI! I want to sign up & I did it wrong. I signed up before making my intro post. Also I can’t find the HTML to the badge for my sidebar & to put in my intro post.
Should I re do it and re link my correct post? Also how do I get the badge?
    Thanx

  11. I really didn’t succeed last year, despite *loving* the genre. We’ll see if I manage to do better this year. Aiming for 5, hoping to bump that to a higher challenge level once I succeed!

    • Luckily you can read your heart’s content worth of post-apocalyptic fiction and it will still count. If you need any suggestions for pure dystopia though, 1984, Brave New World, and others like that are a good place to start.

  12. I’m loving this! Dystopia is (are ??) my favourite genre! I don’t have a blog but am on Goodreads as deanna boocock . Contagion here I come.

    • Goodreads only is not a problem Deanna. Looks like you’re already underway ;) Remember you can also post your reviews from Goodreads onto the review Mr Linky as well.

      • 3 Prison Nation by Jenni Merritt
        4 Shade (Shade #1) by Jeri Smith-Ready
5 New World Orders by Edward G. Talbot

        7 Containment by Christian Cantrell
        8 Ashes by Ilsa Bick
9 Hollowland (The Hollows #1) by Amanda Hocking
10 The Burn by Annie Oldham
11 The Cause by Clint Stoker

        Almost there!

        • Just a few more
          12 Cinder by M. Meyer

17 The Dead Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan
18 The Dark and Hollow Places by Carrie Ryan

    • Your link wasn’t working properly, but I’m using your Challenges page for it so not a worry there. The only problem is I can’t seem to find you in the Mr Linky. Do you remember what name you used for it? In the meantime I’m entering your new link in under the name Emily at Confessions of a Bookaholic, but if you could let me know about the other entry so I could delete it that would be great.

      Thanks Emily!

    • Hey Christy, there’s lots of newbies to the challenges so don’t worry. You need to download/grab the badge and upload it to the page/post you’re signing up with. I’ve updated the link for you because it was taking me to your blog, but it kept telling me it couldn’t find your post. So don’t worry about the link now, just the image. Let me know if you need any help with uploading the image.

  13. It’s 2012! Now we can all start reading! Good luck everyone and I hope you have plenty of fun.

For those just signing up now, the limit to sign up is the end of this year so you can take your time. For those having trouble with badges and have let me know about them, I’ll be sending it out to you today.

    Enjoy!

  14. I was going to do my sign up post in the first week of January but I now see that it is not allowed. I don’t think I will be have time to blog anymore in December though. Can I just sign up anyway and make the post later?

    • Hi Lynne. It’s actually linking to the Mr Linky widget, did you do that? You can always sign up with your Twitter account or Goodreads one until it goes live and then I can update it later. When will your blog be going live?

    • I’ve re-entered your link to go to your blog, even though I know it’s still under construction. That’s ok that it is, but I thought it would be better to do it now so no one forgets later :)

    • Awesome! That’s really cool you’ve gone with this one for your first. I hope you enjoy it and watch out, you might get addicted to reading challenges… I like to think of it as a healthy addiction though.
